Balance in 2009

I've said before here that my word for 2009 is Balance. Over at Concroption, Tricia gave us a challenge to do a 2 page layout about our intentions for the year. All of mine came down to finding balance between things I want to do and things I have to do! Here is my layout.

AWDML Feb Kit Sneak Peeks

Sorry I haven't been real great at getting posts up! I don't know why, but it seems like every night I have something! Next week is the same way but then things get back to normal...at least I hope then do! I am also fighting pink eye in both eyes! I had just gotten new contacts after having to wear my glasses for a couple weeks because I didn't have any contacts left and now I can't wear contacts for 7-10 days! Figures!

Working on a challenge for Concroption right now...some paint is drying as I type this! Also have some AWDML layouts to do with the February kit. I've finished one and a couple cards so far. Can't show those to you yet but here are a few sneak peeks! The first one is from the Feb card kit and the other is from the monthly scrapbooking kit!

Me fickle?

I wasn't liking the blog since I redid it at the beginning of the year so I thought I'd try again! Took a picture of my scrap area, had some fun in photoshop, and voila...new header! After trying about 20 different templates, I settled on this one. Still not sure about the colors...you may see some changes sporadically throughout the week as I settle on a combo I like! All my blog links disappeared too so I will be working on those a bit later! I have also been working on some stuff for both AWDML and Concroption and hope to get some stuff posted soon! I don't know why January has been so busy this year but it seems I have something I have to do every night!

Balance

My word for the year is balance. (if you don't know about one little word...see Ali's blog here) Since being accepted on a couple scrapbooking design teams this past year, I have really struggled with balancing my hobbies, being a mom, housekeeping, exercising, being in God's word, and many other things as well. My hobbies used to take a backseat but now that I am on the dt's, I have an excuse as to why I HAVE to do a layout or card! And while it is good to have "me" time, it has left my house a mess, laundry undone, my kids sitting in front of the TV, and a tummy I want to get rid of! All why I want to work on the balance of my life. To remind myself daily of my word, I made this sign to hand in my scrapbooking area. I used the January kit from AWDML.

Scrappy Opportunities!

I am so excited to have signed up for some scrapping events this weekend! The first is a Come Play Eugene event! This one is going to be a Valentine's Paper Potluck! Fun! Last time was so much fun that I really look forward to this! It is fun to get with other scrappers who are "into it" as much as I am!
Then I also signed up for CKC Portland with some friends! Last year I did 4 classes and liked half of them! I think 4 was just too many for me. So this year we chose just 1. It is called "A Peek into my Week." I taught a class like this at my church but did a week in the life of an artist...with all of Isaac's drawings and a week of zzzzzzz's and took pictures of Erin sleeping. So I think I really will do this one as a week in MY life. Here is a picture of a sample of what we will be making!

New Year...New Look!

So, what do you think? I just wanted to change up the look of my blog for the new year. I am still learning the whole blog thing so I have to keep it simple! If anyone knows of any good tutorials or sites let me know, I'd love to learn a little more!

Do you like My Mind's Eye?

MME has some great new paper lines out right now. But what is really awesome is that they are this month's featured manufacturer at A Walk Down Memory Lane and so it is ALL on sale! Here are a few things I did with a few different MME lines. This layout uses the 29th Street Market line and the rub-on is from the laundry line line. (does that even make sense?)

Both cards use MME's Laundry Line paper and embellishments. It is a little hard to tell in the picture but the paper is very glittery! But it is not the kind that comes off on your hands and clothes and everything else it touches! Very fun paper to create with!

Pages read

Well, our family has been hit by a bug! And it is not fun! But before we were hit I made this little book for concroption. It is for me to record how many pages I read this year and any books or authors that I want to read. All the supplies came from concroption except the paint which I already had. I used a mix of MM red wagon and black. The paper is Jenni Bowlin and Rusty Pickle. The letters are a great mask by Tim Holtz. For the red side, I painted over the mask and for the black side, I traced them and then colored it in. The off white words (read and this) are rub-ons by Jenni Bowlin. The fun little polka dot ribbon is by Rusty Pickle.

Vintage Home Kit

You have to check out the January kit at AWDML! It is awesome! I absolutely love it! I have made two layouts so far and I have a ton left to play with! I am trying to think of something I want to alter with it and leave out on my desk so I can look at this pretty paper all the time! Big changes are in store at A Walk Down Memory Lane for the new year as well! Look for a monthly card kit, a copic markers club, as well as the usual scrapbooking kit! Also, we are going to be focusing more on the dt blog rather than the message board. So look for our regular weekday posts...a different designer each day of the week! And you will now get a new class EVERY Saturday and a new challenge EVERY Sunday! What fun! Looking forward to 2009!
